Elcock named National Track Male Athlete of the Week

After a weekend that saw Jerod Elcock clock the fastest 100 meter time in the entire NJCAA, the sophomore sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago, Jerod Elcock has been named the NJCAA Male Track Athlete of the Week.

Elcock was named the Region VI Track Athlete of the meet last weekend at the Region VI Championships as he took first in the 100 meter, first in the 4x100 meter relay and second in the 200 meter dash. All three races for Elcock were new top marks in those events in the entire NJCAA.

The most noticeable thing from Elcock's performance on the track was his blazing 9.92 100 meter time, the fastest in the entire NJCAA. His 20.17, that tied teammate Joe Williams, is also the fastest time this season in the NJCAA. Elcock also ran the third leg of the 4x100 meter relay that ran a 39.55, again, the fastest time in that event this season in the NJCAA.

Elcock won the indoor men's 60 meter dash national title and looks to repeat in the sprints at outdoor national next week in Hutchinson.

Elcok was also named the United States Track and Field and Cross County Coaches Association Athlete of the week, the second time he has won that award this season.
