Butler wins two events at KU Relays; regionals next

The Butler track team fared well at the KU Relays, winning two events at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.

Tavarius Wright was the individual winner of the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.18.

Wright then teamed up with Mark Doyley, Javaghn Spicer and Cardet Bienvenue to win the men's 4x100 meter relay in a time of 40.35.

The KU Relays are one of the most prestigious track and field events annually in the Midwest.

In the 200 meter dash, Spicer ran a personal best of 20.78.

The men's 4x400 meter relays qualified for the finals in a time of 3:17.31, which also qualifies them for nationals. The team did not finish in the finals, however.

On the women's side, Octavia Cato set her personal best in the 100 meters, running an 11.51.

The KU Relays marked the end of the regular season for Butler. The next meet will be the Region VI meet, which will be hosted by Butler at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex on May 2-4.
