Women’s Indoor Track & Field bump up one spot to No. 8 this week

The Butler women's indoor track & field team moves up another spot, this time to No. 8 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Poll.

The Grizzlies just finished up competing at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, NE where a number of season bests were set by the women's squad.

Linesha Thompson highlighted the meet with her 10th place finish in the 400-meter running a 56.09, her best time this season. She also qualified for NJCAA Indoor Nationals with her 24.41 200-meter time. Toshel Goffe qualified for Nationals in two events; the 60-meter dash (7.80) and the 200-meter (25.10).

The women's 4x400 meter relay team also ran their fastest time of the year with a 3:53.66, placing them inside the TOP 5 in the NJCAA this season.

Shanique Masters and Zadie St. Louis both improve on last week's 800-meter time running a 2:18.39 and 2:18.81, a personal best for Zadie.

"We are continuing to get better and better as the season moves on," said head coach Dustin Mettler "I am happy how we have competed thus far but we still have more to prove and look forward to the next few weeks."

The women's team now holds NJCAA top ten rankings in the 60m, 200m (2), 400m, 800m (2) 5000m, 4x400 meter relay and the Distance medley Relay.

Butler will have one final tune up this weekend in Pittsburg before the Region VI Championships the following weekend.
