Butler Women take 3rd Place at Region VI Championships

The Butler women's Indoor Track & Field team bring home hardware after a third-place Region VI finish and the men take 8th as both teams put forth strong performances at the Region VI and KJCCC Championships Sunday from the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, KS.

Day two saw Region VI Championships in Kaleb McDonald in the women's 400m and the women's 4x400m relay team. The 4x400 team of Kiara Brown, Zadie St. Louis, Kaleb McDonald and Linesha Thompson ran a 3:50.27 which marks is the second fastest time in the NJCAA this indoor season.

In the women's 60m hurdles, Hadassah Hampton took 6th place with a time of 9.92.

David Niang took 4th in the 60m hurdles running a 8.43while teammate Brandon Smith finished 8th with a time 0g 9.12.

Linesha Thompson was a runner-up finisher in the women's 60m running a 7.50 and teammate Destiny Castillo finished right behind her in 3rd running a time of 7.72.

On the men's side in the 60m dash, Dakari Carter brought home the silver medal finishing runner-up with a time of 6.726. Teammate Caleb Jackson finished third running a 6.729. Jerod Elcock took 8th in the meet with a 7.03.

The Women's 4x800m Relay team (Abigail Brooks, Ann Dangha, Emily Hankins, Zadie St. Louis) finished runner-up running a 10:27.31 and the men's 4x800 relay team (Mario Tullis, Juan Tovar, Tarik Xavier, Maquire Sole) finished 7th with a time of 9:02.86.

Zadie St. Louis took 5th in the women's 600m run with a time of 1:42.84 and Tarik Xavier finished 9th on the men's side running the 600m in 1:24.55.

The Butler women went one and two in the 400m run with Kaleb McDonald taking 1st with a time of 55.79 while Linesha Thompson ran a 56.20 to finish runner-up.

Zadie St. Louis finished runner-up in the 800m running a 2:27.14.

Kaleb McDonald and Kiara Brown finished 4th and 5th in the women's 200m. McDonald ran a 24.75 and Brown crossed the line at 24.95. Dakari Carter took 4th in the men's 200m running a 21.42.

Stephany Lechuga took 13th in the women's 3000m run with a time of 12:34.65. 

Leyni Gomez finished 8th in the 1000m finishing with a time of 3:33.64 and teammate Emily Hankins took 11th with a time of 3:41.28. Juan Tovar took 10th on the men's side with a time of 2:41.32.

The Butler men's 4x400m relay team (Caleb Jackson, Dakari Carter, Judah Taylor, Jerod Elcock) finished runner-up in a very tight race which saw the top three teams finish within milli-seconds of each other. Barton took the crown running a 3:13.09. Butler finished runner-up with a time of 3:13.81 and Cloud took third with a 3:13.90.

Butler will finish out the indoor season back in Pittsburg in two-weeks, March 5-6 for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships.
