Adler named National Softball Player of the Week

Butler sophomore Emily Adler was named National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Softball Player of the Week this week announced by the National office Wednesday.

After being named Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Tuesday, the Grizzlies second baseman from Derby, KS, is now the first Grizzly to be named as a national player of the week after recording stunning numbers over the course of an eight game week. Adler put together one of the best weeks for a Butler hitter this entire season last week that saw the No. 6-ranked Grizzlies go 8-0. Dating back to last week with four at bats, Emily put together a steak of a perfect 14-14 at the plate. She started this week 10-10 before flying out in the first game of the day against Dodge City. She finished the week 16-21 at the plate for an astounding .762 average. She scored 15 runs while batting in 14. She hit three doubles, a triple and two homeruns on the week with a stolen base. Defensively Adler recorded 14 putouts with five assists.

This season, Adler is hitting .512 with a .791 slugging percentage. She has totaled 12 doubles, three triples and six homeruns while driving home 58 runs.

This is the first time a Butler softball player has won this award this season.
