Butler Softball has Two Dominant victories over Garden City

The Grizzlies traveled to Dodge City on Saturday and came home with a shut-out game one victory followed by a 13-3 game two victory.

Game One
The Butler Grizzlies dominated Garden City in a shutout victory, winning 15-0. Butler was in control of the game from the beginning, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding nine more runs in the second inning. They continued to dominate, scoring three more runs in the third inning and one in the fourth inning.

The Butler batters were on fire, with 19 hits and 14 RBIs. Ryanna Valdivia had a great game, hitting a home run and a double, and driving in three runs. Kendyl Anderson also had a homerun and drove in one run while Briona Woods had two homers in the game for five RBIs.

Pitcher Allyson Montgomery was fantastic, pitching all five innings and not allowing any runs on only three runs. Montgomery had eight strikeouts and five walks, facing twenty two batters.

Game Two

Butler exploded in the third with four runs and added two more in the fourth. The fifth inning was the most effective for the Grizzlies, as they scored seven runs to put the game out of reach of the Conquistadors.

Butler's hitters were impressive, with JaKeyla McDaniel, Kaylah Newman, and Briona Woods all collecting multiple hits. Woods and Ryanna Valdivia both hit home runs in game two, with Woods driving in three runs and Valdivia driving in two. Madi Divis also had a strong performance, driving in two runs with a sacrifice fly.

In the circle pitcher Emma Koeneke had a solid outing, allowing only three runs on seven hits over five innings of work. She also struck out five batters and earned the win. 

The Grizzlies are now 39-10 on the season and 28-4 in conference play as they prepare for the Region VI tournament in Dodge City beginning on Friday.
