KJCCC ‘Player of the Week’ Rewind- Women’s Basketball

With no spring sports in action and no opportunities for Grizzlies to earn KJCCC 'Player of the Week' honors, we are going to look back at all of this year's honorees.

Today we rewind to the winter sports seasons and Women's Basketball where three weeks a Grizzly earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference 'Player of the Week' honors during the season. Freshman center Tamara Nard was selected twice and sophomore guard RaVon Nero picked up the honor once.

Week 4: RaVon Nero

RaVon Nero, sophomore guard from Edmond, OK, helped Butler to a NJCAA Top 20 win Tuesday night where she scored 28 points leading the Grizzlies to a 76-69 victory over No. 17 ranked Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. Nero shot 67% from the floor and connect on three of her four three-point attempts. In her 32 minutes of play, she chalked up 28 points, five rebounds, three steals, one assist, one block and only had one turnover in the contest. This was Nero's third 20+ point game this season. 

Week 4: Tamara Nard

Tamara Nard, freshman forward/center from Chicago, IL, was a consistent force for the Grizzlies offense during this thee game stretch. She scored in double figures all the games while shooting 47% from the floor during the stretch. Nard was also a threat on the defensive side of the ball recording just shy of two blocks a game making her presence known inside the block. She has helped Butler to a top spot in the KJCCC East averaging 15.1 points per game and six rebounds per game.

Week 14: Tamara Nard

Tamara Nard, freshman forward/center from Chicago, IL, dominated the post this past week in both games as she averaged 27 points per game. Nard shot 56% from the floor on the week, just below her average of 57% on the season, which is 3rd in the KJCCC this season. Nard is also tied for 4th in the KJCCC Division I in points per game at 15.7. Nard's 33-point performance was a career high for her topping her previous game high of 28 points scored back in November. Nard also pulled down 6.5 rebounds per game in her 27.5 minutes played per game last week.
