Grizzlies drop a pair in Concordia

The Butler Grizzlies were swept in a doubleheader in Concordia in two games against the Cloud Thunderbirds, as the Thunderbirds took the four game series, winning three of the four games against the Grizzlies.

Game One

The Grizzlies were held to just three runs on six hits in the first game at Lee Doyen Field, with Josh Holmes earning half of the Grizzlies' hits. Holmes and Cooper Torres earned the only extra base hits for the Grizzlies, and Cache Stone and Zach Stroh earned the only RBIs, as the Grizzlies left seven men on base.

Izack Tiger earned the start, and he pitched three innings, giving up two hits and striking out four.

Game Two

The second game was an offensive showdown, as two of the best hitting teams in the conference both starred at the plate. The Thunderbirds lead the league in both RBIs and runs, and they earned 14 runs on 10 hits and it proved to be too much for the Grizzlies.

Cooper Torres earned the only home run of the day for Butler, a three run shot to left field in the fourth inning.

The doubleheader sweep drops Butler's record to 18-13, and 8-8 in conference play. Butler will look to get back to winning ways with one game against the Enid Jets at McDonald Stadium on Tuesday.
