Grizzlies Split Saturday to Finish the Series 2-2 with KCK

Butler Baseball comes up just short in the 10-8 loss to begin the day Saturday, but swings back with vengeance in the 19-7 run-rule victory to end the series.

Game 1

A late rally in the final inning was unfortunately not enough to propel the Grizzlies past the Blue Devils for victory. Butler scored eight runs on sixteen hits with two errors in the seven-inning game.

Justin Hudson had the only homer of game one, along with another RBI, totaling two for #34. Triston Speaker joined him with two, along with Josh Homes, Hayden Dyer, Anibal Rivera, and Frank Garcia with one each. Cole Murrell had a great game at the plate going four for four.

Zach Brink started on the mound for the Grizzlies followed by Austin Bagnall and Dylan Rinker.

Game 2

The Grizzlies finished up early by run-ruling KCK in the final game of the series with a 19-7 victory. William Humphrey, the game two starter, gave a satisfactory performance facing 21 batters, allowing only four runs on five hits with six strikeouts in four and one third innings of work.

Butler scored nineteen runs on seventeen hits with no errors. After being tied 1-1 to begin the second inning, the Grizzlies took the lead and never relinquished it.

Brock Kuehler had a fantastic game at the plate hitting a homerun over the fence in left field, with two doubles, two walks, and going three for three at the plate with seven RBI's. Triston Speaker had four RBI's while Hayden Dyer had two, and Cole Murrell had one.

This 2-2 split with the KCK Blue Devils brings Butler's record to 4-6 on the season. Next up the Grizzlies will face Des Moines Area CC in Eldorado for a four game series on Friday and Saturday.
