Grizzlies Take Two Victories at Colby

Butler Baseball traveled to Colby, Kansas on Thursday and defeated the Trojans in a run rule shut out 13-0 in game one, and 12-9 in game two.

Game One

Butler held the Colby Trojans scoreless in game one of the series as Izack Tiger faced 23 batters in his six innings of work, giving up two hits, walking one, and striking out eight.

Butler bats got hot in the top of the fourth inning and could not be stopped from there. The Grizzlies put up four runs in the top of the fourth. Justin Hudson kicked off the fifth with a solo homerun followed by a solo homer from Brock Kuehler in the same inning. The Grizzlies then put up seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 13-0 and secure the run-rule shut out.

Game Two

The second game of the day was a different story for the Grizzlies as they found themselves behind 6-1 until the fourth inning. Butler then made a comeback putting up three runs in the top of the fourth inning and four more in the top of the fifth. Butler baseball did the most pivotal damage in the top of the seventh putting up three runs that would give them an 11-8 lead over the Trojans. Each team put up another run in the final inning and the Grizzlies would claim the 12-9 victory. 

Garret Fager had two solo homeruns in the game joined by Markus Hamre with one.

Caden Kickhaefer will claim the win on the mound for the Grizzlies advancing his record to 7-1, and Tyler Lechner will claim his first save of the season.
