Grizzlies Split with Conqs Taking the Series 3-1

Butler Baseball Split with Dodge City on the road, falling in game one 7-1 but leaving with a 6-3 victory in game two.

Game one

The Butler Grizzlies baseball team suffered a tough loss to the Dodge City Conquistadors with a final score of 7-1. Butler took an early lead in the first inning, scoring a run, but Dodge City responded by scoring a run in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning, taking control of the game. Butler's offense struggled, only managing three hits in the game. Starting pitcher William Humphrey will take the loss on the mound for the Grizzlies. 

Game Two

The Butler Grizzlies defeated Dodge City 6-3 in game two. Grizzlies started slowly, falling behind by two runs in the first inning, but managed to get on the scoreboard in the third inning. The score remained tied until the top of the ninth inning when Brock Lummus hit a sacrifice fly to put the Grizzlies ahead three runs.

Butler's pitching was solid, with Dylan Rinker and Tyler Leachner both seeing time on the mound. Rinker had a tough start, giving up three runs in just over three innings, but Leachner came in to close out the game with five and a third scoreless innings, earning him the win.

Butler Baseball's record is now 32-19 on the season and 18-10 in conference play. The Grizzlies are back in action Monday as they take on Neosho at McDonald Stadium at 11 a.m.
