Butler Baseball's Kickhaefer Receives Rawlings & ABCA Gold Glove Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Butler Baseball's standout pitcher Caden Kickhaefer added another honor to his name on Wednesday afternoon when he was announced as a Rawlings & American Baseball Coaches Association Gold Glove award winner for NJCAA Division I by the NJCAA Baseball Committee.

Kickhaefer, the Grizzlies redshirt freshman pitcher from Salina, Kansas, also received a Region VI Gold Glove award for his excellent work in the field. Kickhaefer finished the year with a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage, going 19-19 on putouts this season.

With the Region VI award, Caden became the first Grizzly Region VI Gold Glove Award Winner since Mason Goade, who won the award as a second baseman in the 2017 season.

In addition to his great work in the field, Kickhaefer was named to the All-KJCCC West Second Team. Kickhaefer finished the year fifth in ERA among all pitchers in the KJCCC, and first among KJCCC West arms. He also finished with an excellent 10-1 record and went 5-0 across his final seven starts. His best game of the year came on May 3rd when he threw a complete game, five hit shutout on the road against Pratt in a 4-0 Grizzly win.

Kickhaefer is one of three players from NJCAA Region VI to be named to the NJCAA Division I Gold Glove team this year, being joined by Johnson County's Jeremy Rader and Kansas City Kansas's Gehrig Goldbeck.

Caden is the first Grizzly to win an NJCAA Gold Glove since at least 2014.
