Butler’s Winkle earns National Goalkeeper of the Week

The honors continue to roll in for Butler's sophomore goalkeeper Lexi Winkle as she was named the National Junior College Athletic Association 'Goalkeeper of the Week' announced by the National office Wednesday afternoon.

Winkle, the Derby, KS native, was an integral part in the Grizzlies two conference victories this past week helping them to the top of the standings in the KJCCC East with a 3-1 conference record. She started and played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win at #18 Johnson County Wednesday on the road. Winkle recorded a perfect four saves on four shots on goal.

She then came into a 1-1 game against Coffeyville Saturday night in the 49th minute and recorded three saves on three shots on goal and saw the 6th ranked Grizzlies to a 3-1 victory and a place at the top of the KJCCC East standings.

Winkle is 7-2-0 on the year while logging 693 minutes with a goals against average of 0.91.

This is the Grizzlies first NJCAA 'Player of the Week' honors received this year by any sport.
