Butler Soccer holds tight at No. 7 after closing out their tough non-conference schedule

The Butler soccer team held tight at No. 7 in this week's NJCAA Div. I Soccer National Poll after finishing the week 2-1.

Head coach Adam Hunter and the Grizzlies just wrapped up one of the most competitive non-conference schedules a team has ever put together playing six NJCAA Top-15 teams and going 4-2 in those matches. Of those two losses, one happened with .22 seconds remaining in a match with No. 6 Hill and the other loss came in overtime to No. 3 Seminole. The four wins they have over ranked opponents are Monroe CC, currently No. 8, Iowa Western who is No. 10, Rose State who is now ranked No. 15 and Laramie County (WY) who just dropped out of the poll and is receiving votes.

Butler now turns their sights to the Jayhawk conference schedule where they will face two conference foes on the road this week. The Grizzlies travel to Johnson County on Wednesday and then to No. 12 Cowley for a rematch of last year's Region VI Championship overtime shootout thriller.

Four Jayhawk conference teams find themselves inside the NJCAA Top-20 this week with Butler at No. 7, Cowley at No. 12, Barton at No. 14, and Coffeyville gets in at No. 20.
