Grizzlies roll in 5-1 win over Broncbusters

The Butler Grizzlies continued their winning ways as they cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Garden City Broncbusters at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado on Sunday afternoon.

Butler improves to 9-2-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in conference play, and they extend their unbeaten streak to five games with the victory.

Kenzee Godwin opened the scoring with her ninth goal of the season off a nice assist from Amelie Koenig in the 12th minute of the game. Butler doubled their lead when Kim McAlpine scored her second goal of the season, converting a low shot off an assist from Harlie Wilson. The Grizzlies took that two goal lead into the locker room.

Garden City got on the board to open the scoring in the second half, but it would prove to only be a footnote as the Grizzlies rallied to score three in the second half. Korryn Hackney scored her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute off an assist from Brooklyn Hunter and just three minutes later Joy Ngibuini put in her third of the year. An Omnia Thompson goal with four minutes to play would put the stamp on the victory, as she scored an unassisted goal from 20 yards out that found the net.

The Grizzlies remain home this week with two games, as they welcome Neosho on Wednesday before hosting the Hutchinson Blue Dragons on Saturday.
