Grizzlies finish in a tie with Red Ravens

The Grizzlies scored first but found themselves deadlocked after the final whistle, as they could not find a go ahead goal as they finished in a tie with the Coffeyville Red Ravens at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex on Wednesday, as the match ended 1-1 after two overtimes.

It's the first tie of the season for Butler as they move to 7-2-1 on the year. It's Adam Hunter's first tie ever against Coffeyville as his career record against the Ravens moves to 24-1-1.

Madeline Bowman opened up the scoring in the 37th minute, scooping up a loose ball off a corner kick and slotting it into the net to give Butler a lead they'd carry into the break. Coffeyville equalized just after halftime and the score would hold through the rest of regulation and overtime, as neither defense refused to give up anything to the other side.

"I thought the kids played hard," head Coach Adam Hunter said. "It's a little disappointing because I thought we played better, but we played really hard."

Three time KJCCC goalkeeper of the week Kyrah Klumpp was again solid at the back for the Grizzlies, earning three saves and only being beaten on a fantastic goal from just inside the penalty box.

Butler will be on the road for a pair of conference games, as they travel to Dodge City on Saturday before heading to Garden City one week later.
