Butler Volleyball opens up 2021 season with 3-0 sweep over Pratt

After 446 days since their last match, the Butler Volleyball returned to the court Monday night defeating conference opponent Pratt in a 3-0 sweep.

Led by sophomore returners Milayna Hollinger and Jaryn Benning, the Grizzlies picked up a good opening road win in some well contested sets. 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18.

"This was the first collegiate match for a number of our girls," said head coach Lisa Lechtenberg now in her third season. "As a team we did some good things as well as some not so good things but it is always nice to start your season with a win."

Hollinger led the team with 10 kills in the match while adding 4 blocks and four digs. Benning totaled eight kills and led the team with 15 digs. Freshman Sydney Morrow served up three aces in the match while recording 12 digs and five kills. Kayli Duncan led the team with seven blocks from her middle position. Jessie Nibarger finished with 19 set assists while freshman setter Lara Sosa added 12.

The Grizzlies will head to Midwest City, OK this Friday, January 29 to play in a triangular. They will face the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 3:00pm and will play the host Rose State College at 5:00pm Friday night.
