Butler Volleyball picks up two wins in Triangular

Coming off their first win of the season, the Butler volleyball team carried that confidence all the way to Midwest City, Oklahoma and picked up two non-conference wins in the Rose State Triangular.

Butler took on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in their first match of the day and made quick work of the Drovers with a 3-0 sweep 25-23, 25-20, 25-11.

Carly Clennan led in kills with six in just 10 attacks. Milayna Hollinger finished with five kills and a block. Lara Sosa had 31 set assists while teammate Jessie Nibarger tallied up 27.

In the second match of the day, Butler played the host school Rose State College and picked up yet another 3-0 sweep 25-19, 25-4, 25-14.

Butler passed the ball around well as nine of the 12 players who saw action recorded a kill in the match. Kayli Duncan led the way with eight while also picking up three blocks and two digs. Sydney Hefty led in digs with 14 while Cailtlyn Rexroat and Sydney Morrow both picked up 13 in the match. Morrow also had three serving aces to go with her three kills. Lara Sosa finished with 41 set assists and Jessie Nibarger picked up 32.

"It is always a good day when you go 2-0," said head coach Lisa Lechtenberg. "We controlled the ball on our side pretty well throughout the day."

Butler (3-0, 1-0) heads to conference opponent Independence (0-2, 0-2) on Monday, February 1st to take on the Pirates in a 6:30pm match.

Notes: The Grizzlies have not gone to a fourth set in any match this season. This is the first time the Grizzlies have started the season 3-0 since the 2012 season.
