Volleyball drops first set and match of the season with road loss at Colby

After a 4-0 start to the season, the Butler Volleyball team dropped their first set of the season lost their first match with a 3-0 loss on the road at Colby Thursday night.

The Trojans jumped out early taking a quick lead and got it to 23-16. Butler rallied climbing within one point, 24-23, but a tipped ball over the net gave the first set to Colby, 25-23.

The Trojans carried that first win momentum with them throughout the match defeating Butler in set two 25-17 and set three 25-13.

Sydney Morrow led the Grizzlies with eight kills on the night, a season high for her. She also had six digs and two blocks. Milayna Hollinger and Keera Parks both finished with five a piece. Hollinger also led Butler in blocks with four in the match. Jaryn Benning recorded 12 digs and four kills while Caitlyn Rexroat dug up 10 balls in the match.

NEXT UP: Butler will continue their northwestern road trip in McCook, Nebraska where they will take on Trinidad State (CO) and Northeastern (NE) on Friday at 2pm & 5:30pm. Saturday they will play Central Nebraska at 8am and finish the weekend with Eastern Wyoming at 2pm.

NOTES: This is the Grizzlies first set and match loss of the 2021 season. Butler has their lowest hitting percentage of the season at .209.
