Grizzlies come out on top in five-set bout in Dodge City

The Butler Volleyball team (9-5, 4-3) went the distance Friday night in Dodge City as they came from behind to win a tough back and forth match against Dodge City.

The first two sets saw 19 ties and 15 lead changes between the two teams. Butler held a 21-16 lead in the first, but the Conquistadors used a 7-0 run to close it out 25-21. The Conqs found a way late to take set two 26-24 now in control with a 2-0 set lead.

Butler would take the next two sets starting with a 27-25 set three win. After letting a large lead slip away, the Grizzlies stayed alive in set four holding off the Conqs comeback attempt winning 26-24 and getting a chance to play in the fifth and final set.

Butler used a 9-3 run to start the set and would withstand the run by Dodge City to pick up the road win in a five set battle.

Jaryn Benning and Caitlyn Rexroat both finished with double doubles on the night. Benning had 11 kills and 20 digs to go along with her eight blocks and one ace. Rexroat finished with 11 kills and 10 digs in the match hitting .296 on the night. Milayna Hollinger also had 11 kills on the night and eight blocks.
