Butler picks up big Monday night win over Colby; first win over Trojans since 2017

The Butler Volleyball tam (11-7, 6-5) picked up a big four set victory on Monday night over the Colby Trojans; 15-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24.

After dropping the first set of the night 25-15, the Grizzlies gained their composure and got back out on the court with purpose and won the next three. They even trailed 24-22 in the fourth, with set point on the line and won the next four to seal the game.

Carly Clennan led the Grizzlies with 13 kills on the night hitting .400% but it was Caitly Rexroat that gave Butler a spark in the final set to tip them over the edge. Rexroat had six of her eight kills on the night in the final set and all were powerful swings either hitting an open spot on the floor or ricocheting off the opponent out of play.

Jaryn Benning posted her fourth double-double of the season finishing with 12 kills and 19 digs. She also chalked up three blocks and an ace. Clennan led the team in blocks with five to go along with her team high 13 kills. Sydney Hefty finished with 17 digs in the match and five assists while Jessie Nibarger had 20 set assists.

NEXT UP: Butler (11-7, 6-5) will host Dodge City (5-11, 4-7) on Thursday, March 11 at 6:00pm in the Power Plant.

NOTES: This is the Grizzlies first win over Colby since October of 2017… Coach Lechtenberg's first career win over Colby…Grizzlies first four set win this season.
