Volleyball drops five set match at home to Garden City

The Butler Volleyball team (12-8, 7-6) fell in a tough five-set match against Garden City Friday night in the Power Plant.

Butler came out strong taking set one 25-22 over the Broncbusters. Garden City answered with a 27-25 set two win. Butler found a way in set three to win 25-22 to take the two-set lead. The Grizzlies threatened in set four hoping to put it away, but the Broncbusters capitalized on Butler errors scoring three of the last four points and squared up the match a 2-2 with a 25-22 win. Garden took a quick 8-2 lead in set five, a deficit the Grizzlies couldn't overcome, and they fell 15-11, and lost the match 3-2. 

Jaryn Benning led the way with her seventh double-double of the season and seventh in the last eight games finished with 19 kills and 28 digs. Sydney Morrow notched her third double-double with 12 kills and 24 digs. Milayna Hollinger added eight kills and five blocks.

As a team, Butler hit .194 and had eight serving errors and seven blocking errors in the five-set match.

NEXT UP: Butler (12-8, 7-6) heads to Seward County (14-4, 9-1) on Monday, March 15 for a 4:00pm matchup with the No. 10 ranked Saints.
