Grizzlies go the distance with Seward; come up short in the Greenhouse

For the first time since the 2016 season, the Butler women's volleyball team took a set from the Seward Saints. In fact, they took two in a Monday night loss on the road in the Greenhouse against the No. 10 Saints.

After a tough five-set loss Friday night to Garden City, Butler came out with some fire on the road at No. 10 Seward and won the first set 25-17. They followed that up with a 27-25 set two victory. Seward responded and did so with a vengeance as they won the next three sets 25-19, 25-18 and 15-11.

Caitlyn Rexroat had her best match of the season finishing with 13 kills and 19 digs. Jaryn Benning posted her eighth double-double in the last nine games finishing with 13 kills and 16 digs with four blocks. Milayna Hollinger had eight blocks in the match to go along with her seven kills.

NEXT UP: Butler (12-9, 7-7) will host Hutchinson on Monday, March 22 at 2:00pm in the Power Plant in El Dorado, KS.

NOTES: First time to take a set from Seward since September 2, 2016… Last win over Seward was on November 9, 2014 when the Grizzlies defeated the Saints 3-0 in the Region VI Tournament.
