Butler closes out regular season with five-set victory in Garden City

The Butler Volleyball team (14-9, 9-7) closed out the regular season with a five-set victory over the Broncbusters on the road in Garden City last Thursday night.

Butler fell behind in the set early with a 25-19 set on loss. They came close to trailing in the match as set two was a tight one, but the Grizzlies evened up the match at one each winning set two 25-23. Garden City responded with a convincing set three win handling the Grizzlies quickly winning 25-16 but the Grizzlies would return the favor in the fourth with a 25-17 win.

It came down to the final set and Butler was able to score early and hold the lead the entire way out winning 15-11 and taking the match 3-2.

Jaryn Benning led Butler with 21 kills on 45 total attempts for a .356%. She had 12 digs and two blocks. Caitlyn Rexroat had a balanced night with 12 kills and a team leading 25 digs along with two blocks. Sydney Morrow hit .375 on the night and finished with 11 kills and three blocks. Kayli Duncan controlled the net with a game high five blocks in the match.

NEXT UP: Butler (14-9, 9-7) will travel to Colby on Tuesday, March 30 to face the Trojans in the opening round of the Region VI Playoffs with a 6:30pm first serve. The Grizzlies split with the Trojans during the regular season losing in straight sets 3-0 in Colby and winning 3-1 at home against the Trojans.
