Volleyball wins; defeat Hutch in straight sets

The Butler volleyball team improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in KJCCC play after picking up the straight set win over Hutchinson Monday night in the Power Plant.

"Our setters did a really good job distributing the ball tonight", said Lechtenberg. "We talk about controlling our side and our good passing led to good setting and good kills tonight." 

Butler dominated all night long defeating the Blue Dragons 25-15, 25-16 and 25-21. As a team, the Grizzlies hit .342 in the match committing just 15 errors in 101 attempts. Carly Clennan and Jaryn Benning both posted double digit kills finishing with 10 each. Clennan hit .500 while Benning hit .450. Kayli Duncan and Ivy Fink both finished with nine kills each.

Caitlyn Rexroat ended the night with 26 digs and both setters in the Grizzlies 6-2 offense Rainey Aven and Macie Shaver did a great job distributing the ball as Aven finished with 20 assists and Shaver had 19. Aven also chalked up four kills in the match.

With the win, Butler has now defeated the Blue Dragons at home the last three seasons.

Next up: Butler will host a tournament this weekend playing four matches, two on both days. They will take on Neosho (1pm) and Rose State College (5pm) on Friday and Trinity Valley (11am) and NEO (5pm) on Saturday.
