Grizzlies downed by Colby on the road

COLBY, Kan. – Butler volleyball suffered a 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 15-25) sweep at the hands of the Colby Trojans at the Colby Event Center on Monday evening.

Butler fell to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in KJCCC play while Colby moved to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Butler never seemed to be playing its usual brand of Grizzly volleyball, with Colby leading from start to finish in all three sets.

As a team Butler hit just .063, their lowest output of the season by a wide margin. Freshman Sarah Sullivan (Henderson, NV) paced Butler with seven kills while also adding 11 digs. Freshman Laynee Brown (Topeka) had a team-high 12 digs to go with six assists. Sophomore Maria Eduarda Motta (Foz do Iguaco, Brazil) and freshman Raven Boone (Gardner) each had three blocks.

Butler stays on the road for their next match on Wednesday as they travel to Hutchinson to take on the Blue Dragons at 6 p.m.
